SOLOISTS

  • In repertoire spanning Monteverdi to Gregory Spears, Cincinnati native Alexandra Schoeny is known for her versatility and engaging stage presence. With a voice hailed as "hauntingly beautiful" by Opera News, she is equally praised for her convincing character portrayals as she "embodies melodrama with flair," (Broadway World). Alexandra has performed with ensembles including the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival Chorus, Cincinnati Opera, Cincinnati Ballet, Het Residentie-Orkest (The Hague), het Nederlands Jeugd-Orkest, the Omaha Symphony, the Reno Philharmonic, the Eugene Symphony, and in venues including Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Das Konzerthaus (Berlin), the Palace of Versailles, the Kimmel Center, and the Mann Center.

    Upcoming appearances include Bernstein’s Mass and Vaughn-Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem with the University of Missouri Philharmonic Orchestra and a solo recital in February of 2025.

    Alexandra attended the College-Conservatory of Music where she received her DMA in voice with a cognate in stage direction, the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague (M. Opera), the Royal Academy of Music (M.Mus, DipRAM), and Northwestern University (B.M). She is an alumna of Aspen Music Festival, English National Opera OperaWorks, the Britten-Pears Programme, and the Lincoln Chapman Young Artists’ Preparatory Program. 

    Operatic roles include: Micäela, Cunegonde, Donna Anna, Erste Dame, Pamina, Zerlina, Dircé (Medée), Sofia (Il Signor Bruschino), Clarina (La cambiale di matrimonio), Adina (L'elisir d'amore), Thérèse (Les mamelles de Tirésias), Marie-Christine (Galileo Galilei), Frasquita, Mrs. Julian (Owen Wingrave), Miss Lightfoot (Fellow Travelers), Nella (Gianni Schicchi). Oratorio appearances include Messiah, Ein Deutsches Requiem, Mozart's Requiem, Faure's Requiem,Lord Nelson Mass, Theresienmesse, St. Matthew Passion, Mass in b-minor, Carmina Burana, Finzi's In Terra Pax, Mahler's Symphony No. 4, and Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915. 

    Alexandra can be heard as Miss Lightfoot on the original cast recording of Gregory Spears' Fellow Travelers on the Fanfare Cincinnati label.

  • Rachel Kobernick is a Cincinnati-based soprano. Rachel holds two degrees in opera, and regularly performs with Cincinnati Opera, Queen City Opera, and more. Most recently, Rachel was an apprentice artist with Sarasota Opera, made her role and company debut as Anne in A Little Night Music with Indianapolis Opera, as well as sang Papagena in Queen City Opera's video game inspired version of The Magic Flute. Additionally, Rachel frequently performs in immersive operas and was a part of The Thinker immersive exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum, as well as others across the country. Other recent role engagements include Nella in Opera on the James’ production of Gianni Schicchi, as well as covering the title role in Tchaikovsky’s Undina with Queen City Opera. She is passionate about introducing opera to new audiences, and works frequently in outreach initiatives with Cincinnati Opera, Opera on the James, and more. Rachel enjoys performing in all areas of the genre, singing as a soloist and ensemble member with local arts organizations such as Cincinnati Song Initiative, Ensemble Con Fuoco, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Collegium Cincinnati and The Union (Breath Collective). She is thrilled to be back with the group for this gorgeous work!

COMPOSER

  • Described by Classic FM as ‘one of today’s most exciting young composers’, British composer Rebecca Dale was the first female composer to sign to Universal Music's Decca Classics label, and her debut orchestral album went to No. 1 in the UK Specialist Classical charts. As a concert composer her work has been performed and recorded by ensembles including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the Philharmonia, Welsh National Opera, Tenebrae, Voces8, soloists Steven Isserlis, Nicola Benedetti, Mari Samuelson and Angele Dubeau. She was commissioned to write the Church of England's first Christmas single, and in 2023 her music performed at the Scottish service for the King’s coronation, and concerts of her work for choir and orchestra across the Netherlands including the Royal Concertgebouw. She also composes for screen, nominated for best original music in feature film at the Music & Sound Awards. She is an alumna of the MacDowell Colony, the Sundance Composers Lab and the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, and has judged for the Royal Television Society Awards and Ivor Novellos.
